Introduction

The project

Between Buenos Aires and Lisbon, “Volver” brings Argentine tango, fado, dance and the spoken word together in a journey where each language helps tell the same story. Bandoneon and strings sketch the world of tango; voice and movement open a path to Argentine folk traditions and Portuguese song. The proposition invites audiences to listen to the instruments and follow what happens between performers, making the stage a meeting place for cultures. For theatres and cultural events, its appeal lies in that scenic dimension: music that can also be seen through gesture and dance, and a narrative that finds different ways to express itself.

Career

Artistic journey

The March 2025 presentation at the Auditório Municipal Augusto Cabrita in Barreiro brought together Juan Capriotti on bandoneon, Denys Stetsenko on violin, Miguel Gelpi on double bass and Rui Meira on guitar, with Graciana Romeo and Jacqueline Fernández. The programme combined tango, zamba, chacarera and fado, including original compositions and a waltz dedicated to Lisbon. That diversity provides context for the artistic journey of “Volver”: not just a passage between two places, but a dialogue between ways of playing, singing and dancing. Music and movement together build a theatrical dimension extending the instrumental concert. The stated line-up belongs to that presentation; the cast and show version are confirmed for each new date.
