Introduction
Sinfonity brings the electric guitar into conversation with the symphonic repertoire. Directed by Pablo Salinas, an ensemble of guitarists explores music by Bach, Vivaldi, Ravel and Falla, keeping the shape of the compositions while revealing a different palette of sounds. Powerful passages sit alongside delicate playing and references to rock history. It is an instrumental proposition for theatres, festivals and cultural programmes seeking to connect different audiences through familiar works heard from an unexpected perspective.
Career
The concept grew from Pablo Salinas's work on “La avería”, directed by Blanca Portillo, and developed into an electric guitar orchestra. Performances in Mérida in 2011 and at Madrid's Teatro Fernán Gómez in 2012 form part of that journey. Sinfonity has featured in guitar and performing-arts festivals, including Córdoba, Petrer and TEMUDAS in Las Palmas. Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, music by Vivaldi and Falla's Ritual Fire Dance illustrate the scope of the repertoire. The line-up, programme and technical requirements are confirmed for each engagement.
