Introduction
With Filipe Ribeiro, magic begins in the relationship with those watching. Children respond, help and join the game, making participation a central part of “O Mágico das Crianças”. Visual illusion and humour connect surprise with the pleasure of discovering things together, in a proposition designed for young audiences and the adults accompanying them. For parties, schools and family cultural programmes, the format can create a moment of shared attention in which the audience has a role in the action. Its appeal lies as much in the magical effect as in the encounter surrounding it: anticipation, children’s responses and the rapport built throughout the show.
Career
In 2016, Filipe Ribeiro presented “O Mágico das Crianças” at Biblioteca Municipal do Barreiro as part of the Palmo e Meio series. That encounter with family programming helps locate a proposition with distinct school and birthday-party versions, keeping children’s participation as its central thread. Visual effects and interaction are designed for groups of different sizes, seeking to give children an active role and bring them closer to the adults accompanying them. Developing the format means adapting that relationship to the context, not simply choosing a running time. Sessions last 30, 45 or 60 minutes depending on the version; audience age, capacity and presentation conditions are confirmed for each proposal.
